The top has wide banded inlaid edges, the drawers are cock-beaded, with original locks.The legs are in the graceful splayed Hepplewhite mode. Overall good condition. ANTIQUE TURN-OF-THE CENTURY LIBRARY LAMP*
*Shown here: A rare "Slag Glass" table lamp. These lamps were made after the turn of the century from 1900 to 1920, as popular priced alternatives to very expensive Tiffany lamps, by several makers in the northeastern U.S. Some of the well known makers were Bradley and Hubbard, Handel, and Miller. They were not always marked by the makers. This lamp has a base casting that has been attributed to and found on lamps by Miller of Meriden, CT around 1910. The shade has 8 curved panels of caramel and green "marble glass" or "slag glass", and 8 rectangular pieces overlayed by an intricate cast bronze arabesque motif. All glass is in perfect condition. The base and stem have an old original faux antique bronze finish. There are 2 sockets with pull chains. Wiring has been restored with antique reproduction cord and plug.
